“What are you going to write about in your blog this week, Aunt T?” My niece Kaia asked me over dinner on Saturday night.
“I might write about this moment right now.” I replied.
On Saturday morning I flew up to visit my brother Peter and his family in northern California. It had been years since I had dedicated more than a few hours to visit with all of them, and since it was my nephew’s birthday weekend, I figured this would be a great time to go. I packed my pull buoy, which might seem obsessive, especially since it took up precious luggage space, and the pool provided pull buoys, (a fact I discovered later), but I had a swim workout that called for it on my schedule Sunday morning, so I wanted to be prepared. There was also a longer run planned for Sunday, and a run to sneak in somewhere Saturday afternoon.
I got everything done. We all did.
We moved through the weekend like a symphony.
There were dance rehearsals, dance performances, baseball practice, a baseball game, family dinners, a volleyball game, two runs, one swim workout, a thrilling game of HORSE, plus a Nerf War themed birthday party.
It was awesome and exhausting.
I think the most precious commodity is time. It never stops, we can’t get any of it back, so how we choose to use it is very telling. I try to use my time wisely, even if I spend some of it watching a Real Housewives of New York City marathon after a six plus hour training day, (I love those days), but my favorite way to spend time is with my family.
I am proud of Peter, Alexa, and their amazing kids, and am hopeful that after a fun weekend like this last one, they know they can count on Aunt T for anything, any time.
Following is the video for Ariana Grande's new single, "No Tears Left To Cry." It's a great tune and fun video. Enjoy.:)
