The First Gorgeous Sunset Loop: Washington Island Ultra - Part One

August 2, 2022 Taryn Spates

Happy Tuesday!! I wanted to check in with another Tuesday *teaser* post to announce that August is going to be a little different for my bloggity-blog, and I hope you’re all up for it!

I am in no shape right now (a mere 24-hours after arriving home from an inspiring and exhausting week crewing at the Washington Island Ultra which included a ridiculous amount of travel to the midwest and minimal sleep) to thoughtfully, clearly, and concisely write about what an incredible experience it was.

I need to let it all sink in.

And sleep.

Therefore, I plan to write up multiple posts throughout the week to properly tell the full story.

From Left: Rachel Peterson (The Runner), Jess Zaiss (Crew/Bike pacer), Heidi Videto (The Biker), Yours truly (Crew/Run Pacer). Photo credit: Ryan Dugger.

However, I will drop the first two doses of inspiration in this official Tuesday post, Heidi DID ride 500 miles!!

And Rachel DID run 100 miles!!

AMAZING!!

Also, as the header photo above can attest, my partner in crime, Jess Zaiss, and I had a blast supporting these two phenomenal women.

To be continued…

The song and video choice this week is a direct message to Heidi and Rachel from their tallest crew member via Post Malone.
